Well, the Blu-Ray set is announced.

Here's the bullshit from Paramount...

The world’s favorite globe-trotting archaeologist is, at long last, embarking on his greatest adventure – when “The Complete Indiana Jones Blu-ray Collection” comes to Blu-ray Disc from Lucasfilm Ltd. and Paramount Home Media Distribution. The Complete Indiana Jones Blu-ray Collection will be excavated in the fall of 2012 and will include all four of Indy’s thrilling adventures, using the highest possible high definition picture and audio presentation – along with a “best of” collection of documentaries, interviews, featurettes and a few new surprises."

So--even though they already released part 4--YUP, you have to buy that piece of crap (again? you poor bastard) too? Sigh. And you know that if you don't, you'll have to wait several months for the individual releases of the first three, and they'll most likely be priced outrageously making the purchase of the set more appealing despite the inclusion of that bad, not-awful-but-who-the-hell-wants-to-own-it-in-there-collection entry. And what do they mean by "'best of'"? Sound like they're going to chop up the previous featurettes to anyone else? God dammit anyways...

Yeah... not at that price.

At the very least Senor Spielbergo didn't butcher the good films in the franchise before rereleasing them.

I'd consider buying Temple of Doom again at least, if it was released uncut for the first time in the UK.

I actually went out of my way to get a set of the trilogy on DVD rather than owning the fourth film, so I kinda doubt I'll be shelling out for a set of the four on Blu-ray. I'll wait for the stand-alone releases, thank you.


Germany is a good place to import uncensored DVDs from - they're all region 2 and films from the major studios (Warner, Touchstone, Universal etc.) are all in English, even the DVD menus. I just picked up Die Hard With A Vengeance from there so I can FINALLY watch it without the ridiculous and incredibly noticeable BBFC chopping.

Hmmm... I might consider doing that, in the words of John Mclane "Thanks for the advice."

Wow, censorship in your country must be insanely bad if Germany seems favourable in comparison.

The BBFC can be pretty harsh at times... There are certain things they just hate - headbutts and knives in particular are always being censored in films.

They're actually not so bad these days, but with a lot of older 80s/90s films, the studios just can't be bothered (I assume) to resubmit them to get them passed uncut under the current, more liberal laws. So classics like Die Hard With A Vengeance and Indiana Jones And The Temple Of Doom are still badly cut. (To be honest, I can see sense in the cuts they made to Temple Of Doom - it IS pretty extreme for children - but then again the melting Nazis in Raiders Of The Lost Ark were left intact and that kinda freaked me out when I was a kid.)

Yeah, it's more the remnants of how strict they used to be. Nowadays the only thing that gets cut is sexual violence, and they're not quite as strict about that as they were.

I'm very happy to announce that I got all 4 of my Indiana Jones movies (plus the first two Mummy films, and both Tomb Raiders) all packed in 1 single DVD labelled "All Time Best Classic Adventure Movies" which my local DVD Store sells at 180 Taiwan Dollars back when I buy it (if memory serves. Also the low price is due to it being a bargain)

Screw the Blu-ray releases!!! Why, when I can spend that money on other movies I wanted to buy???
