Enjoyed the podcast, of course, and I'm glad to hear Rant's returning to writing for the site. Glad to hear Rambo III getting some love, it's my favorite of the series.
Anyway, addressing some of the comments made during the review of the Top 100, I would to start by explaining the appeal of Taken (to me, at least, which I gave a 9). It's just incredible to see an action movie (from any decade) that's so focused on giving the audience what it wants. No CGI or special effects (or very, very little), no romance, no dumb subplots, no whiny, hipster sidekicks, no pointless comic relief, no hyper-shaky-cam (the camera does move a bit during the action, butnot that much), no extraneous dialgoue scenes, none of that bullshit. Taken is a swift, violent, badass, and short flick that all other action flicks should take notes on. On the subject of Duck, You Sucker (which I gave a 10), I just gotta say it's the best damn western movie ever made. I find that it's an electrifying film, with brilliant music, heartbreaking drama, and a message that I can honestly say changed my life. The flashbacks to Ireland were important because they drew parallels between Coburn's past and what he's going through now. Will he repeat the mistake that traumatized him and haunts him to this day? I could on and on about how DYS is one of the top 10 movies ever made, but I'll leave it at that.
And, yeah, of course I know who Styx are. I saw those badasses in concert.
