Bring 'Em On!
Once you finish an action book (or any other book in which people die memorably), feel free to let us know how many people lost their lives during the plot.

It's funny you should make a thread about this. I've actually been keeping track of how many people Roland, the main character from the Dark Tower series has been killing as I've been reading them. It's easy to do with Steven King's writing, as he goes into great detail. I'm only on book 5 right now, but here's the numbers so far:

Book 1: The Gunslinger - 63 kills*
Book 2: The Drawing of the Three - 7 kills
Book 3: The Wastelands - 4 kills
Book 4: Wizard and Glass - 17 kills
Book 5: Wolves of the Calla - 0 kills (Though he does take out a shitload of robots in the end battle.)
Book 6: Song of Susannah - 7 kills
Book 7: The Dark Tower - 19 kills

117 kills total

*The bulk of them come from one of the craziest action scenes I've ever read in a book, in which Roland goes up against an entire town full of people. And kills them all.

Never thought of this. And seeing as the last time i read a book was about 2 years ago it isnt weird.

Wonder if he gets the same amount in the comics. Been thinking of reading them sometime.

The comics are based on flashbacks from the books, and not the books themselves. You should read them and see how many he kills. I'm waiting until I finish the books.

Had no idea. Well, will probably read them anyways, have heard good things about them & the comics based on The Stand.

The comics are prequels, but only the first one is really based on flashbacks... if there's more, I don't remember it.

And I might do Conan. At least from the Howard stories.

We won’t see shit, but we’ll get the impression of the fight scene and everyone’s happy. Well, I don’t think so. I’m not a big fan of the way they film action in the Bourne films, or The Dark Knight for that matter."

Should we post some of Eggimann's comic book killcount videos possibly in the future? I think his Punisher one deserves an upload IMO.

I will have killcounts for comic books based on the following movies/shows:

The Shield (all three issues),
Expendables prequel comic (four issues),
24 (all five issues),
Star Trek: The Next Generation- The Last Generation (might add all of them if I get, say, a free year from school  ; overall I plan on doing this one for now)

Hooray for violent fairy tales!

The Steadfast Tin Soldier

Character Kills:

Jack in the Box: 1
Paper Ballerina: 1

Corpse Breakdown:

The canal: 1
A fish is... fished (since most fairy tales have anthropomorphic animals and this one has talking toys, I'm counting it).

Return of the one legged tin soldier: 2
The Jack in the Box throws the one legged tin soldier onto the stove, where he melts into a little tin heart.
The paper ballerina throws herself after him, instantly burning herself up (suicide).

Total: 3

About four people die on every page.
