I first saw 'To Live and Die in LA' roughly 15 months ago after blind buying it at my local video store since I heard some fine reviews. The against-traffic car chase is extremely pulse-pounding, the direction is magnificent, and the performances feel so lively and tense. Wang Chung supplies an awesome soundtrack, and it's truly one of the most underrated movies ever. Flat-out incredible.

Definitely. Peterson probably should've been a massive star. He did some exceptional work in the 80's.

"LA" is trully badass.

*****SPOILERS*******

For a 20 year old movie. Do I need to bother?
You know it has balls when the movie's hero gets his face blasted off before the climax. Absolutely one of the biggest HOLY SHIT! moments in movie history. This did it 20 years before The Departed.

**SPOILER**

Peterson's death caught me by such surprise, it was really out of nowhere and a rarity in movies--one of the reasons that makes this movie so great. I watched a featurette where Will Friedkin was approached by the studio to have Peterson shot in the gut rather than face, then have the finale with him and his partner on an outpost in Alaska. It sucked bigtime, and thankfully Friedkin's not the sellout type.

I'm not too sure if I'd put 'LA' in an action movie list, despite there being one of the best car chases ever and some intense scenes of violence. Those same factors are in the superior 'The French Connection', which is why I put it in my top 100; they're more pulse-pounding in TFC. It's on a grander scale in this rather than LA. That and Popeye Doyle is an edgy badass.

Hey guys Bananajuice from the Netherlands here. Love the site and I will, off course, also try and make a top 100 action movie list.

How many films are we allowed to nominate? The guidelines say 100, but a lot of people are going up to 101. Has the number been increased (not that one extra movie actually matters)?

Individually it's 100, overall it'll be 101. Everyone with films over 100 in number on their lists will simply have the overage be excluded from "The Big List".

EDIT: I was multitasking when I typed the above yesterday and made it sound like the people with over 100 would not be able to participate... NOT WHAT I INTENDED!!! Sorry, I've got to pay more attention. It's fixed now, sorry guys.

I Wouldn't Be Able To Make A List To Decide Which Movie Is Better Than The Other.

That's harsh, couldn't you just cut the 101st film of the list?

That's what I meant. I changed the above post... For some reason (watching TV) I fucked up and formed my reply like a tyrant douche. Sorry about that.

That's one of the things that's cool about this is, you don't have to. All you have to do is pick 100 of your favorites, list them in any order and then later we all vote on them just like you would on IMDb.
