GOOD call. This made a train-wreck of a potentially awesome franchise.

Gotta agree with that one, few films have grown on me as much as Death Wish V, from a 3 to a 7. I really appreciate how it brings the series full circle by blending the more low key tone of the first and the insanity of part 3 and 4. It is a nuanced piece that requires the viewer too...uh, whatever I enjoy it.

Also, I disagree violently with everyone who said Highlander 2. I love that movie, LOVE IT!

OK. I'm sold, I'll have to give part V a second chance.

But as far as all the Highlander 2 hub-bub--I never considered this because, as far as I was concerned, the story was fucking done and over after part one. There was NO need to continue.

even if they had brought back Sam Neill's character in that one, it still would've been lame.

Got to disagree on that, one of the big problems for me with the film is how the lack of a serious leading man like Neill was in the first forces Goldblum to be the serious character instead of the "goofball" role he so perfectly did in the first one. That lacking dynamic between characters is the fundamental flaw of the film to me and the return of Neill would have restored that.

Well, yes, that's fair in saying that shifting the focus to the support character did hurt and changing his typical mannerisms was also too much but the film's bland focus and uneven pace are what really did it in for me. Neill would've served it better but once again the script might've still let everyone down.

Awesome podcast! I could really hear your frustration about the PG-13 shit. I also had to laugh when hearing "Are there any good news? - *sigh* Yes. No, no I'm kidding." :D

Anyways:
Top 5 Franchise Fuck-Ups

5. Nemesis 2
4. Nightmare on Elm Street 5
3. Halloween 3
2. Die Hard 4 (for making PG-13-instead-of-R-Rating-like-it-should-be action socially acceptable)
1. Neverending Story 2

EDIT:
Rant: "Underworld: Awakening!"
*uncomfortable silence*
HAHAHAHAHA :D

Man, I just listened to one of these from last May and I just realised how much I miss these, they were great.

I always bring it up to Rant. He just lost faith or something. I liked disagreeing with him. Would totally do it again.

We won’t see shit, but we’ll get the impression of the fight scene and everyone’s happy. Well, I don’t think so. I’m not a big fan of the way they film action in the Bourne films, or The Dark Knight for that matter."
